My Team!

Elizabeth May

Elizabeth May is a Canadian politician, environmentalist, author, activist, and lawyer. She is also the Leader of the Green Party of Canada and is the Member of Parliament representing the southern Vancouver Island riding of Saanich-Gulf Islands on the territory of the W̱SÁNEĆ Nation. She started volunteer work to help the environment in the 1700s. She has also led successful campaigns to prevent aerial spraying against spruce budworm in Nova Scotia’s forests.

I chose her to help support me with my issue because she is a member of the government, which means that she would have more power than most others to make changes. I think that a lot of people would follow and listen to her. In November 2010, Newsweek Magazine named Elizabeth May “one of the world’s most influential women.” She is very active in helping the environment, and I think that I could learn a lot from her.

Asha Srinivasan

Asha Srinivasan is the Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of Boost Environmental Systems. She went to the University of British Columbia. She wants to improve agricultural and municipal wastewater treatment using advanced microwave technologies that protect the environment. She designed and made an award-winning system that hopes to eradicate a lot of the waste that comes from farming, using a microwave-style heating. This will help reduce the amount of chemicals that enter our waters.

I chose her to be on my team because she knows a lot about agriculture and the water contamination that it can cause, and I think that she could teach me a lot about it. She also knows how to make systems that help with this issue, which I think we could use on our team.
