Meet Some of the People that are Helping Save our Ocean!

By

Julie Reimer

Julie Reimer is marine social scientist. Her perspective on ocean management stems from her experience in the ecotourism industry. She also works with non-governmental organizations, and has a desire to understand the communities who impact and are impacted by ocean management.

She has done most of her schooling on the east coast and a bit in Ontario. In fact, she has a Doctor of Philosophy, Geography from Memorial University of Newfoundland (St.John’s, NL), Master of Marine Management Dalhousie University (Halifax, NS), and Bachelor of Science Biology from Queens University (Kingston, ON).

She currently works for Fisheries and Oceans Canada in the National Marine Spatial Planning Program. She seeks to improve the social feasibility and ecological effectiveness of conservation and sustainability solutions. She has done many research projects. I feel that she will have a great perspective on overfishing and how we can help solve this problem!

She has a amazing fresh and young mind and she would be perfect for my team!

Chief Roderick W. Gould Jr

Chief Roderick W. Gould Jr stands up for what is right. He is a Abegweit First Nations Chief ( located in Prince Edward Island.) Just recently he signed a Collaborative Fisheries Management Agreement that will provide Abegweit First Nation with funding to support implementation and governance related to it’s fisheries management activities. This will impact the Abegweit First Nation in a amazing way! He has accomplished so much in his lifetime, which shows just how much determination he has!

He can help bring better First Nations perspectives and opinions to the team. He has a large social media following and countless new articles written about him which would bring more publicity to our research and issue!

He would benefit our team and research greatly!
